Running Workshop
Date and Location
To Be Decided
A three hour workshop consisting of two lessons in Awareness Through Movement on using all of yourself to make running more efficient and pleasurable. The first half will revolve around coordination of the hips, back, ankles, and feet in propelling one forward. The second half will explore the relationship of feet, hip joints, back, and chest in creating supination and pronation of the feet.

The workshop will be taught by Nancy Agnew and Karen Dold of Move With Elan.

The workshop will be held when there is sufficient interest. We particularly encourage running clubs to consider scheduling this workshop for their membership.

Compute in Comfort:
Personal Ergonomics to Maximize Your Comfort at the Computer
- a one day workshop

Date: to be decided
10:00am - 5:00pm

location: to be decided

Operating today’s office technology requires marathon fitness – not for how far you can run, but for how long you can sit. You’ve had an ergonomic reorganization of your office furniture, but you still hurt. So it’s time for some "personal ergonomics" – how to adapt yourself to an unchanging workstation. We’ll teach strategies to improve your sitting, the use of your arms and hands, and the use of your eyes in looking at the screen.

Join us and turn stressful postural habits into the ability to work at your computer for hours in ease and comfort.

The workshop will be taught by Nancy Agnew and Karen Dold of Move With Elan.

Cost: To be decided

Moving Into Length:
An Effective Alternative to Stretching for Athletes and Others Who Want to be Longer and Stronger
Full or Half-day workshop
Date and Location
To Be Decided
Have you ever noticed feeling tight, or stiff, or compressed? This workshop is for you! Using a variety of easy yet complex movement sequences, we will exploit your body's neurological and muscular control mechanisms regulating muscle length. Discover how specific active movements are much more effective than passive stretching in lengthening your muscles - and much more fun to do!! How is it that our 40- to 60- something-year-old students are reporting growing an inch in height when their peers are shrinking in height? How is it that a triathlete's hamstrings have finally learned to lengthen, when all the stretching he ever did never helped? We'll share these strategies in this series as we enjoy lengthening muscles throughout ourselves via coordinated action.

The workshop will be taught by Nancy Agnew and Karen Dold of Move With Elan.

The workshop can be held when there is sufficient interest. The material is relevant for athletes who need a more effective "stretching routine" and for those with postural challenges.
Call Move With Elan at 967-8013 to get more info or express interest in attending the next Moving Into Length workshop.

Pelvic Floor Perception Workshop
Date and Location
To Be Decided
A day-long workshop providing an opportunity to refine your ability to sense and work with the muscles of the pelvic floor. Several Awareness Through Movement lessons, coupled with specific anatomy discussions, will explore the muscles and structures of both the pelvic floor and other, similar structures elsewhere in the body.

Participants will leave with both a more precise perception of the pelvic floor and handouts with suggested explorations and resources to continue their learning.

The workshop will be taught by Nancy Agnew and Karen Dold of Move With Elan.

The workshop can be held when there is sufficient interest. The material is relevant for expectant mothers, for those newly post-partum, for those who have given birth in the past, for those living with stress incontinence, and for anyone with an interest in understanding the pelvic floor more fully. This workshop may be relevant for those with hip pain or lower back pain, as pelvic floor dysfunction often manifests in hip joint or lower back pain.
